Day 1: Transfer from Entebbe or Kampala to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Your adventure begins with an early morning departure from Entebbe International Airport or Kampala. After a briefing by your professional driver-guide, you set off on a scenic journey to southwestern Uganda. The drive takes you through rolling countryside, traditional villages, tea and banana plantations, and lush landscapes that showcase Uganda’s natural beauty.
Along the way, you will stop at the Equator crossing for photos and a short break. Lunch is taken en route at a local restaurant before continuing toward Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. As you approach the park, the terrain becomes hillier and more forested, offering stunning views of mist-covered hills.
Upon arrival at your lodge near the trekking sector, you check in and relax after the long drive. In the evening, you may enjoy a short community walk or simply unwind while listening to forest sounds. Dinner and overnight are spent at the lodge, preparing for the next day’s gorilla trek.
Day 2: Gorilla Trekking Experience in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
This is the highlight of your 3-day adventure. After an early breakfast, you transfer to the park headquarters for a gorilla trekking briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. During the briefing, you learn about trekking rules, gorilla behavior, and safety guidelines. You are then assigned to a small group of up to eight people and allocated a gorilla family based on fitness levels and trekking difficulty.
Accompanied by experienced guides and armed rangers, you enter the dense rainforest in search of mountain gorillas. The trek can last anywhere from one to six hours depending on the gorillas’ location. The forest is rich with birdlife, butterflies, and other primates, making the hike itself a rewarding nature experience.
Once the gorillas are found, you are allowed to spend one magical hour observing them. You may witness mothers caring for infants, juveniles playing, and the dominant silverback guarding the family. This close encounter with gorillas in the wild is emotional, humbling, and unforgettable.
After the trek, you return to the lodge for lunch and relaxation. The afternoon is spent at leisure, allowing you to reflect on the experience. Optional activities include a Batwa cultural visit, a guided village walk, or simply enjoying the views from your lodge. Dinner and overnight are at the lodge.
Day 3: Return to Entebbe or Kampala
After breakfast, you check out of the lodge and begin your return journey to Entebbe or Kampala. The drive retraces the scenic route through southwestern Uganda, with opportunities for photography and short stops along the way. Lunch is taken en route, and you arrive in Entebbe or Kampala in the late afternoon or evening.
For travelers with an evening flight, drop-off can be arranged directly at Entebbe International Airport. This marks the end of your 3 Days Uganda Gorilla Trekking Adventure.
